The eyes are incised and the lines are continuing along the edges of the trunk. The mask is a helmet type and is worn not on the face but horizontally on the head.
The piece was made in the Northwestern Grasslands of Cameroon and more specifically by people from the Elak-Oku commune, Bui Division. The mask was acquired together with another one that had a paper label on the inside reading " "Oku Traditional Handwork Society / Elack Oku Bui Division. I believe this one also had identical or similar label that was lost with the time.
The mask comes in overall good condition for its age. There some scuffs, marks, scratches small chips and finish loss but no major damages.
